Mercedes-Benz Egypt celebrates a decade of sporting success with the “10th anniversary of the MercedesTrophy Egypt”
Following four qualifier sessions in Cairo, Giza & Alexandria – The MercedesTrophy 2018 National Final concludes at Sokhna
Cairo, Egypt: 21 May 2018 – Celebrating a decade of golfing success, Mercedes-Benz Egypt concluded the 10th annual round of the “MercedesTrophy” Golf Tournament at Sokhna Golf Club. This year’s MercedesTrophy marks the 10th anniversary for this prestigious event, with the National Final featuring 72 amateur golfers competing. For the first time ever, the MercedesTrophy Egypt Tournament included a total of four qualifying rounds, up from three rounds in previous years. The Qualifying rounds took place throughout March and April, across some of Egypt’s finest golfing courses including, Dream Land, Gezira Club, Katameya Heights, and Alexandria Sporting Club.

It truly reflects how the MercedesTrophy became a staple tournament in the region.”
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the MercedesTrophy, this year’s National Final included two full days of golfing playoffs, a hole-in-one competition with the chance to win a brand new Mercedes-Benz CLA and a welcome party with an Egyptian galabeya theme, for a celebrative ambience. The MercedesTrophy could not be complete without the special “Drive to the Major” competition. The winner who achieved the straightest drive closest to a marked line, will travel in July and get the chance to rub shoulders with the pros at the “Monday After Event” following The Open at Carnoustie Golf Links, Scotland.
Each year, over 60,000 players from more than 60 countries tee off at the international MercedesTrophy competitions. Throughout the past 10 years, MercedesTrophy has helped develop the green sport here in Egypt, positioning itself as the leading Amateur golf tournament in Egypt. A status that has attracted the best players in the country to compete throughout the qualifiers and national final in sheer excitement and positivity.
