POLISH CONTRACT FOR TWO SOLARIS URBINO 8,9 LE ELECTRIC

Solaris has secured a contract for the delivery of electric buses to the city of Bolesławiec which has chosen for two electric 8.9 meter long buses and two stationary chargers. Worth gross nearly 4.8 million PLN (1,05 million euros), the contract will be carried out in February 2021. The Public Transport Authority, Miejski Zarząd Komunikacji, in Bolesławiec will receive according to the contract the buses within 11 months. The battery buses will be propelled by a 160 kW central traction motor. The energy needed to drive the vehicle will be stored in Solaris High Energy batteries with a total capacity of 160 kWh and it will be supplemented via a plug-in connector. Apart from buses Solaris will also deliver the charging devices. One of the two chargers ordered will feature two modes of operation enabling the recharging of two buses at 40 kW or of a one bus with a charging power of 80 kW. The Solaris Urbino 8,9 LE electric vehicles will be able to carry over 58 passengers at a time, including 20 seated. The buses will feature among others destination displays adapted to the needs of visually impaired passengers and wheelchair ramps. The buses will be equipped with a passenger information system, video surveillance and a fire detection and extinguishing system. Bolesławiec is the 28th Polish city where the battery buses of Solaris will be in use. Over 350 electric Solaris buses are running in Poland. The Public Transport Authority in Bolesławiec has already a fleet of 21 low-floor Solaris city buses.
